Athenry Under 13's edge out Monivea/Abbey in thriller despite tough conditions
Athenry produced a stirring second-half comeback to claim the Under 13 3A Football Shield Final, edging past Monivea in extremely challenging conditions. Played in persistent rain and wind, Monivea made the most of the elements in the first half. With the wind at their backs, the home side struck two well-taken goals and added three points to take a commanding 2-3 to 0-3 lead at the break.
But Athenry responded with grit and determination after the restart. Driven by a strong midfield performance and composed play in front of goal, they chipped away at the deficit before a crucial second-half goal swung momentum in their favour. Their defence stood firm in the closing stages, holding Monivea scoreless throughout the second half. In worsening rain, Athenry showed great composure to add the winning points, eventually finishing two clear. The victory capped off a spirited and disciplined team display in very testing conditions. Final score: Athenry 1-8 Monivea 2-3

Connacht Post Primary Schools title for Presentation College Athenry
In the Connacht Final any lingering doubt about who would lift the John Ryan Connacht Colleges Senior Hurling Cup was eliminated within ten minutes of the start of the second half, as Jason Rabbitte put his name on two goals in quick succession.
His first came from a superb touch on a Ciarán Leen pass that opened up a one-on-one opportunity against Brendan Fox, and the Coláiste Bhaile Chláir keeper had no chance against Rabbitte from close range, while the second was all about power as he emerged from a ruck to sweep a low shot to the opposition net, ensuring the final quarter was pedestrian fare. Final score: Presentation Athenry 3-15 Coláiste Bhaile Chláir 0-9

The Athenry side knocked out their great rivals St. Kieran’s College Kilkenny at Bansha. The winners always had a bit to spare thanks to a powerful defence inspired by Darragh Counihan and Seán Murphy with solid support from goalie Chris Callanan and the defiant Aodhán McDonagh. Aaron Niland came on in the closing stages and set up a goal for Ciaran Leen while Jason Rabbite turned provider for Eoin Hannon to also raise a green flag for the winners. Final Score: Presentation College Athenry 4-13 St. Kieran’s Kilkenny  2-11
Presentation College’s quest to win their first colleges senior hurling title continues after a gripping but heart breaking loss in the final at Croke Park. Eight points ahead midway through the second half they looked set for victory but Thurles CBS fought back picking off some great points to edge ahead when it mattered.  Final Score: Thurles CBS 0-24 Presentation College 2-17.
