A Great Day for Presentation College and Congratulations to all involved

James Divilly is Athenry hero
GORT Community School's hopes of winning the title for the sixth time were dashed at Kenny Park in Athenry as Presentation College, Athenry captured their first crown since 1977.
James Divilly was the hero for the Athenry school as he shot 1-9 to help his team claim the title.
A goal from Jonathan Glynn gave the champions a good start and they led by 1-6 to 0-7 at the interval.
Two points from Conor Caulfield boosted Athenry, but when Michael Mullins flicked to the Athenry net a minute later it looked as if Gort would cruise to victory.
Divilly stepped forward and got a goal from a 21-yard free in the 40th minute to level the match and Athenry showed the greater hunger from then on, with another Divilly free and a great individual score from substitute Jack Carr halted Gort's impressive run.

Galway win at Pearse Stadium
Galway maintained their solid early season form with a runaway nine-point NHL win over Waterford at Pearse Stadium.
John McIntyre's charges scored two goals in either half through Niall Healy, Iarla Tannian (2) and Aidan Harte.
Healy's first minute goal saw Waterford fall behind but they recovered well to lead 1-08 to 2-03 at half-time, with Shane Walsh netting.
Deise free-taker Maurice Shanahan finished with nine points but Galway were razor sharp in open play and Tannian was the pick of their forwards.
Backed by the wind in the second half, Galway scored a handsome 2-12 and they made a lightning quick start with Healy finding the net after just 18 seconds.

Saint Mary's GAA club Athenry, juvenile section, will hold its registeration night on Tuesday March 9th in the Presentation Gym between 6.30pm and 7.30pm for under 8, under 12, under 14, and under 16 in both hurling and football.

President clarifies helmet regulations
Uachtarán Chumann Lúthcleas Gael Christy Cooney has clarified that referees will not be asked to police the rules regarding the wearing of helmets.
The GAA introduced new regulations at the start of the year which prohibit a player from entering the field of play without a helmet and full face guard.
Mr Cooney says that it is up to individual players, clubs and county boards to ensure that the helmets worn are IS355 approved and have met stringent safety standards.
“It’s not the referee’s responsibility,” Mr Cooney said.
“It’s the responsibility of the individual player and the club and the county board to make sure that players are wearing the helmets that are specified.
“In the event of they having a serious accident, and they are not wearing a helmet that is specified, they won’t be covered by insurance and it’s on everybody’s interest.
“Not only are we encouraging are we encouraging them to wear the proper specification, but it is important for them, for their own health and safety, to wear the specification that is required.”
Mr Cooney also encouraged players not to tamper with helmets by removing face guard bars to improve their sight lines.
“They just must wear the helmet as specified for their own safety,” he added.
“That’s very important and I would encourage them to get a bit of common sense and do what’s right.
“I don’t believe that once they get used to wearing them, for the players that hadn’t been wearing them, they won’t have any difficulties.
“We wouldn’t have made it compulsory unless we felt it was the right thing to do in the interest of the health and safety of all our players.”
