58 Firstly, thank you to the clubs that nominated me for this position in 2012 and to the selection committee for running with us as a Management group. Our goal at the outset of 2012 was to win an U16 All Ireland title. We almost achieved this goal in that we reached the U16A Final having topped our group with wins over Clare & Dublin and having beaten a strong Cork side in the semi-final. Unfortunately Dublin proved too strong for us on the day of the Final but still we believe substantial progress has been made throughout the year. There are 12 girls from this A panel underage again next year and the experience gained this year should stand to them in the coming season. These girls recovered well from their defeat by winning the U15 National development tournament in O’Loughlin Gaels Kilkenny in August so hopefully this is their marker for next year. Our B Team had a comprehensive win in the Championship over Down and drew against Dublin but were beaten by Offaly & Derry who ultimately contested the final. Both Offaly and Derry were their counties first teams. We started the year by having 91 girls in for trials in three different venues. From this we picked panel of 53 girls between U16A & B for 2012. We held 34 training sessions with the girls and would like to thank the following clubs for the use of their pitches for training: Ballinderreen, Ardrahan, Clarenbridge, Craughwell, Kilconieron, Turloughmore & Killimor. Their co-operation and support is much appreciated. In addition to the 34 training sessions, we also played six Challenge matches throughout the year, two against Kilkenny U16, St Thomas (Snr), Clarenbridge (Jnr B) & two against the Seamount College team that won the Jnr All Ireland Final. I would like to thank the players for their genuine effort and co-operation, they are a pleasure to work with. I would also like to thank their parents for their support and cooperation all throughout the year. There was a lot of time and travelling involved and a lot of early Saturday & Sunday mornings on the road and I would like to acknowledge their effort as it was much appreciated. I would like to thank the County Board for their tireless work and support during the year and Supermacs for their sponsorship. I would also like to thank the clubs for their co-operation and our Physios Ian and Louise Larkin for their help. I would also like to thank Therese Maher who took time out to come and talk to the girls before their All Ireland Final, this was much appreciated by us and the girls. Last but by no means least, I would like to thank my Management Group of Gerry Helebert, Gerry Dolan, Claire Forde, Richard McNicholas and Cathal O’Brian for all their work and effort during the year. There was a lot of hours put in in planning, coaching and organizing everything during the year by this group. I would like to finish by wishing all Galway teams the best of luck in 2013.
