103 CUMANN PEILE MAIGH CUILINN Cumann Peile Maigh Cuilinn had a very busy year on the playing field contesting in Minor, U21, Junior and Senior competitions. Our Minors won the West City League Final and reached the Final of the West Championship only to loose out to Salthill in the final. Our U21 squad won the West Board B Final beating Clifden and reached the Co, Final where they lost out to Killkerin/Clonberne by 1 point. Senior Championship started with a loss to Milltown and St. Michaels and this left Maigh Cuilinn in the relegation battle where we were drawn against neighbours Killanin which Maigh Cuilinn won easily. The Junior squad won the West B Championship beating a strong Southern Gaels side and have reached the Co. B Final against Athenry. Our Juvenile Club also had a great year on the playing field with our U14 winning the Mairtin Maolchairin Cup in the 7 a side Gaeltacht competition,. Our U16 side won the Comorthas na Gaeltachta Faoi 16 competition and beat Bearna in the West League Final but lost out to Tuam stars in the Co. Final by one point. They also reached the Co Championship Final but lost out to Salthill by one point. As there are no competitions for the U10-12 age group our Juvenile Committee set up a Parish League and this proved a great success. The players were broken up into four teams and there were some great displays of football to be enjoyed. This kept the players interested and focused all during the Summer months. With all the hard work put in at Juvenile age the future looks bright for Cumann Peile Maigh Cuilinn.
